Margaret's most important responsibility as Verger is safekeeping of the church registers. When needed by the Church Wardens or the Arch Deacon she makes sure they are up to date with attendances and signatures for services.

The Verger makes a quarterly return to the Registrar's Office and a yearly return to the Chelmsford Diocesan Office of attendances at all services.

Along with the above, Margaret does an "office hour" every Saturday morning for people who need to enquire about arrangements for weddings, banns of marriage or first enquiries for baptisms which are then passed on to Michael Vickers, our Vicar. She also attends weddings and ensures that the married couple and their witnesses sign in the correct places.

Margaret wears a badge at our services so that new people coming into church can ask her questions, when she will do her best to help.
