Who are we?The MfC are a bunch of guys that call ourselves Christian because we have met with Jesus and the way we think and feel about life has changed as a result.
We have been committed our lives to Him and have decided to to follow Christ.........hence the name!
Some have been a Christian for a while, others only recently, but we all recognise Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life and have come to understand the importance of encouraging each other to be the men God created us to be, at the same time as reaching out to others with the salvation message Jesus has for us all.
We are men who follow our hearts as well as our heads. Christian men who know its OK to be passionate, dynamic, courageous and determined to lead lives which honour God and advance his kingdom, taking a stand for our partners, kids, family, friends and .....ourselves……..and supporting each other in having what it takes to follow and live like Jesus.
We'd like as many like minded men to join us in calling themselves...... MfC: Men following Christ
What do we do?(Click HERE for events in 2012)Play
A chance to get together and do blokes stuff. Beer, food, BBQs, playing and/or watching sport, providing a chance to bring your mates along knowing they won’t get grilled about God or church (unless they want to!) Take a look at the events page for whats coming up.
Pray
We all face pressure and responsibility which some of us seem to handle, and some don’t (marriage, relationships, kids, money, work……..church). We will make time this year to get together at least once a month as mates in Christ, either in and or out of church to follow and seek Jesus together, discipling each other as we go. If you would be interested in joining us, either speak to or email Simon Picknell to receive more details of dates, venues and topics as they occur. Provide
We should not just talk, pray and sing about who Jesus is and why we follow him, first and foremost, Jesus calls us to actually do what he did, and this is where men can, and probably should, take the lead. Throughout this year let’s tangibly proclaim our faith by what we do for those in our communities as well as those we love.
Steve Fletcher, of our congregation, has already started showing God’s love and compassion to those who need more than just words. 'Above Us Only Sky?',
is now a registered charity that without asking questions, provides for the immediate needs of homeless people sleeping on the street. Warm clothes, bedding, food and the love of Jesus with the vision for even more practical help in the future. Do you have a heart to just be a friend to people, helping to provide what they practically need? Learn more about what’s involved at www.aboveusonlysky.org.uk
What is it that your heart is drawing you to? Should men following Christ get more involved in actually being like him? Actually doing the things he told us to do?
MfC Discussion Group
Every other Thursday, me and a few other guys get together to see what the Bible has to say about the challenges we deal with every day.A chance to encourage, to be encouraged, to pray and to learn more about what it means to be a man following Christ.
If you want to find out more, send me an email to say your interested (no obligation to do anything……I promise!) Speak or email, either Kevin Browning kevinbrowningatslukes@googlemail.com or Simon Picknell picknell@googlemail.com about anything you have read about here, or if you just want to be involved in this ministry!
