Sundays
Services
Whilst God can touch you at any time, whether in a church building or not, many people believe they experience God in a church service.
10.30 am - Morning service at St Luke's building.
A pre service prayer meeting takes place at 9.45 in the Lower Chancel Room. All are welcome.10.00 am - Morning Service at Moor Lane building
6.30 pm – Evening Worship at St Luke’s building lead by Kingdom Overflow
Visitors are welcome at all of our services.
(There is no specific dress-code; most people dress casually/informally.)
What to expect
All our services are informal with opportunity for freedom of expression and to feel included whether you are new to the faith or have been a Christian for years; the key thing being that we want everyone to feel at home. We use hymns and songs as expressions of our worship of God; these are led by a worship team with the words on a screen. Whilst the children are in their groups there will also be a reading from the Bible and a sermon (a talk linking the Bible and everyday life). There is Holy Communion (the bread and wine) too, depending on the week of the month. If you're baptised and used to taking Holy Communion in another church please feel welcome to receive here too. We don't take an offering during the service, most regular members of the church support the work of the church through standing ordrer. There is a box at reception where those who want to give cash or via the envelope scheme can do so, but visitors are under no obligation to give. There are refreshments (which are free of charge) both before and after the service, where everyone is welcome to stay and chat.
We believe in a God who answers prayer and so, as well as praying during the service there is an opportunity for people to receive personal prayer after the service is finished.
Once a month we do things a little differently at St Luke's - a shorter "all age" service. Our Parish Diary gives details of when these services take place.
Children and Youth on Sundays
We want all ages to feel welcome and part of the church.
Most Sunday morning services start with a first section with everyone together for worship and prayer. Different ages then break into different groups for a second section. The children and young people go to age appropriate ministries in various rooms in the church complex and adults stay in the main worship area for sermon and worship. On the first Sunday of the month we share Holy Communion together towards the end of the service and the children come back in to join us.
For primary school age and younger we have a Family Welcome Desk at St Luke's. We will ask you to fill out a registration form there when you first walk in and tell us about your children. You will be shown where the children go for children's ministry and where to collect them at the end of the service. Parents are also welcome to stay with their children, or go - as seems appropriate.
On the 3rd Sunday of the month we have a special family service lasting around an hour where all ages remain together. These are very creative and engaging for all ages and a good ‘taster’ service if you want to invite friends along for the first time.

Young Adults
Overflow: AM
For school years 7 and above
Where: St Luke's
What's it about: Overflow:AM is our Sunday morning group for 11-16 year olds; second breakfasts, pastoral support and ongoing discipleship - our aim is to support young people to grow their own faith, and connect them into our wider community of young people and young adults.
By the time they get to this age, 11+ years, they want to come to church of their own accord, and Overflow:AM is one of the reasons why. A no holds barred approach to current events and Biblical teaching. If it's on TV, at the cinema or just a wild rumour this is the place to sort out the fact from fiction, and have a laugh in the process. Suitable for those who know nothing about God and for those who feel they know lots.
Registration for this group - and Kingdom Overflow's other ministries - is online. Filling in the registration form will sign you up for our sign in system, and for ongoing communication about any group/ministry you are interested in. Please find the registration form here: https://www.kingdomoverflow.com/get-connected
